Love Heals Live Lynchburg: How Surviving a Brain Tumor Turned Pain Into Purpose

On Friday, March 27th, 2026, something powerful happened in downtown Lynchburg, Virginia.

Inside Nimble Merch Business, a small, intimate space filled with no more than 25 people, there was no stage production, no flashy lights, no distractions. Just real people, real stories, and real purpose.

This was Love Heals Live.

And for me, it wasn’t just another event.

It was a moment of alignment.

A moment where everything I had gone through, everything I had survived, finally made sense.

More Than an Event, A Movement

Love Heals isn’t just an organization. It’s a mission.

Their focus is simple, but powerful, helping people who are facing health crises and cannot afford the care they need. Whether it’s lack of insurance or financial hardship, they step in where many systems fall short.

But what makes Love Heals different is not just what they do, it’s how they do it.

You can feel it.

You can see it.

You know exactly where the support is going.

There’s no disconnect between cause and impact.

Every story told, every song performed, every dollar raised is directly tied to changing someone’s life.

The Role I Didn’t Know I Was Preparing For

That night, I wasn’t there as a spectator.

I was the storyteller.

And I was asked to share something deeply personal, my brain tumor journey.

Now, I’ve told parts of my story before. But this was different.

This wasn’t content.

This wasn’t a podcast.

This was raw.

This was real.

This was me standing in front of people, not just sharing what happened, but confronting what it did to me.

The Conversation We Don’t Have Enough

I didn’t just talk about the diagnosis.

I talked about something deeper.

I talked about self-advocacy.

About how important it is to listen to your body.

About how sometimes, you have to keep speaking up, keep asking questions, keep pushing, until someone finally listens.

Because the reality is, not everyone will catch it the first time.

Not every doctor will see what you feel.

Not every system is built to slow down and truly hear you.

So sometimes, you have to be the one who refuses to be ignored.

Faith vs Fear: The Real Battle

One of the biggest things I shared that night was the battle between faith and fear.

Because when you’re facing something like a brain tumor, fear is loud.

Fear tells you everything that could go wrong.

Fear shows you the worst-case scenario.

Fear makes you question everything.

But faith…

Faith whispers.

Faith reminds you that there’s still purpose.

That there’s still time.

That there’s still something greater on the other side of what you’re going through.

And every single day, you have to choose which voice you’re going to listen to.

The Moment That Changed the Room

There was a moment during my story that shifted everything.

I spoke about something that many people don’t think about until it’s too late.

The idea of dying… without fulfilling your purpose.

That moment hit the room.

You could feel it.

The silence.

The reflection.

The weight of that question.

And in that moment, I realized something myself.

There was trauma from this experience that I hadn’t fully dealt with.

Things I had pushed aside.

Feelings I hadn’t processed.

And standing there, sharing my story, I wasn’t just helping others.

I was healing too.

When Your Story Moves Someone Else

After the event, someone came up to me.

And they told me that hearing my story made them want to start going to get checkups.

It made them think differently about their health.

It made them reflect on their life.

And even more than that, it pushed them to start going after their dreams.

That’s when it really clicked.

This is bigger than me.

This is what purpose looks like.

The Energy of the Room

The vibe that night was something you can’t manufacture.

It was laid back.

It was open.

It was safe.

People weren’t just sitting and listening.

They were engaged.

They were present.

They were connected.

And that’s rare.

Especially in a world where attention is constantly divided.

The Soundtrack of the Night

Adding to the experience were two incredibly talented artists:

Joy Keyser (left) and Malachi Gagnon (right)

Their acoustic and folk performances brought a different layer to the night.

It wasn’t just background music.

It was storytelling through sound.

Their voices, their lyrics, the emotion behind their performances, it all blended perfectly with the energy of the event.

It created a flow.

A rhythm.

A space where people could feel, reflect, and connect on a deeper level.

What This Experience Taught Me

If there’s one thing I took away from that night, it’s this:

There is purpose in pain.

Everything I went through, the fear, the uncertainty, the questions, the recovery, it wasn’t for nothing.

It was preparation.

Preparation for moments like this.

Moments where I can stand in front of others and say:

“I’ve been there.”

“I made it through.”

“And you can too.”

What’s Next

This is just the beginning.

I’m currently working on a live podcast collaboration with Love Heals, something that will bring even more value, education, and real conversations to the community.

On top of that:

Final Thoughts

If you take anything from this…

Let it be this:

Listen to your body.

Speak up for yourself.

Don’t ignore the signs.

And don’t wait to walk in your purpose.

Because the same thing you’re going through right now…

Might be the very thing that changes someone else’s life tomorrow.
